*Please read the “How to Adopt Page” and the Policies below before applying.  Thank You!

No litters planned for 2010 – taking a break

Availability Below

These two girls were returned to me because their owner said they got a dog and now did not have time for the rats. :(    I just received them so I haven’t had time to get to know them, but so far haven’t had any problems handling them and have photographed them easily.  I did not like the cage they arrived in, as the levels were too narrow and did not allow for an exercise wheel – I put them in one of my cages and they are learning how to use one.  Owner said they have never been ill.

They are from the litter URSA GR Ch. COVE Tequila Sunrise of Willow x URSA Ch. FSTR Bright Copper Kettles, DOB: 9/18/08, both are dumbos.

Please contact me if you can give both of these girls a good home (they must go together); adoption fee will be reduced.

NOTICE OF POLICY

*I don’t take kindly to folks who get on more than one waiting list, and then opt to buy from the breeder who produces a litter first.  This is not Rat Walmart; once I produce babies because I have buyers waiting for them, and if the buyers opt to go elsewhere, I cannot box them on a shelf until another buyer happens along that wants that particular color, sex, coat and ear type of rat — by then, the rat may no longer be a "cute baby".  Please do NOT double-book your breeders!  We are trying to breed responsibly — please BUY responsibly!

* Because of the number of people who have applied for babies and then cancel out after I have bred and produced the babies (or "better" yet, a week or so before they are to go home!) I will now require a NON-REFUNDABLE $10 deposit with all rat reservations. Deposits are due after your application is accepted and it is determined there are babies available.

* Babies will be $20 each.

*As your breeder, I am happy to help you and also answer questions.  However, please understand that we are often asked the same questions repeatedly: what kind of food should I feed, what kind of cage should I get, etc.  Therefore, to avoid typing the same answers repeatedly, I have prepared a recommendations page (see the menu on the left) with all my general recommendations for rat care: cages, food, litter, books, etc.  If you still have questions after reading over that page, please don’t hesitate to email me with your questions!  But please check there first… a shopping list is also included there for your convenience.

*  I do not deliver.  This is a hobby, not a money-making business, and I feel my babies are reasonably priced.  So far, I’ve not had a litter of less than 11 and one of 16 — please add up the cost if I drove my van 50 miles and back to deliver 11 to 16 rats in different directions.  The *adopter* is the one looking to add to his/her household… if s/he doesn’t want the pet enough to make the drive to pick it up, s/he doesn’t want the pet!

(Exceptions: fellow breeders willing to meet part way.)

You may not accomplish every goal you set — no one does — but what really matters is having goals and going after them wholeheartedly.
